In search of otters

I’m lucky to live in a wonderful part of the world and I’m constantly discovering new things. These photos are from a research trip for a new film project I’m working on featuring one of my favourite creature, the otter.

I was able to join ecologist and wildlife expert Roger Cottis from Skye and Lochalsh Environment Forum as he explained how to spot the signs of otters being in the area. The first picture you see here is otter spraint which is part of marking their local territory. The spraint mounds can build up over years until they make a veritable tower. As rival otters come along they also mark the spot. As I walk the coastline I’ll be seeing through new eyes from now on.
