About Stories and Faces

Stories and Faces is a lovely project led by artist Sarah Longley and brings together primary school children and elderly people. The children interviewed their elders and recorded their reminiscences creating a bank of stories that mix humour, nostalgia and some surprising facts. From there they created an array of portraits that are a masterclass in creativity and imagination.

The making of a film

When I heard that Sarah was looking for someone to help her capture this remarkable resource I volunteered to help. Together we have distilled the interviews down and created a film that brings artwork and voices together into something that showcases the work but that is also, I hope you’ll agree, funny, lighthearted and poignant

Come along to the premiere

The project has been a joy to work on. One of the take-aways for me is to remember that we all have stories to share and that often, we just need to ask.

I can’t wait for the film’s first screening on March 29th at Kirkton. I do hope you can come along.
